Please make plans to attend the Band Booster Association meeting on Thursday, March 19 at 6:00pm. This is a very important meeting.
Our first order of business is to discuss a proposed amendment to our band booster bylaws. ***See full details below*** In addition, we will hear from nominees who have entered the race for a board position. However, the ballot remains open through March 31, so if you or someone you know has considered a position, it’s not too late to enter the race. You may still nominate someone and/or enter your name in the running at the meeting or email any member of the current board now through March 31st. The process of selecting new board members is very important to the success of the band program and we really appreciate everyone’s involvement!
March 19th Band Booster Meeting Agenda:
1. Review proposed amendment to band booster bylaws.
2. Receive/review additional board nominations.
3. Introduce board nominees to date.
ARTICLE X: REVISIONS AND AMENDMENTS TO THE BY-LAWS
Section1:
Any member of the Band Boosters may propose an amendment to the By-Laws by presenting said amendment in writing to a member of the Executive Board. Said proposed amendment will be posted on the band website and will be presented for review and discussion at the regularly scheduled meeting prior to the meeting at which a vote is taken. An amendment will be passed and adopted if the majority of members in attendance at the meeting shall vote in favor of passage and adoption.
In accordance with the band booster bylaws Article X: Revisions and Amendments To The Bylaws, the band booster board received a request from a booster member to amend the band booster bylaws. Specifically, Article II: Membership and Article III: Officers and Duties. The amendment requests an individual other than a parent or legal guardian be recognized as a band booster member and extended the same voting and officer privileges. Some examples are domestic partner, grandparents, aunt or uncle.
Below you will see the current wording of Article II: Membership and Article III: Officers and Duties followed by the revisions (additions are highlighted, omissions are strike through) followed by the final proposal. Please review each carefully. We also encourage you to view the current bylaws in their entirety as posted on the band website https://www.buckhornband.com/parents/band-booster-by-laws/10873-2/
A general membership vote on the proposed bylaws revision will take place at the next regular scheduled booster meeting on April 23rd, 2020.
