Below the following thoughts from Mr. Souder is information about ordering tuxes/dresses (for new members) and a list of events for the remainder of the semester.
I hope everyone had a good Fall break with lots of quality family time. The Souders sure did! Baby Maggie had a really fun time at the Thursday Senior Night game and did lots of practice walking! Thank you to everyone who came to support the seniors and the team. I am thankful that we have an opportunity during marching season to recognize the long-time dedication, leadership, and service of our senior students who are such an important part of our band program! Our seniors will also be recognized as part of the awards ceremony at our annual formal Band Banquet Friday, May 15, 2020 which will be held at the Jackson Center in Research Park.
As you know, we are in the thick of competition season. It is very important that students are present at all rehearsals this week! The staff and I make all kinds of big and little changes and dig deeper in to performance aspects as we prepare for our second contest this weekend. We need each student at rehearsal and healthy – just because it’s not blazing hot doesn’t mean students should not be constantly hydrating.
Concert Attire – tuxes/dressesIf you are/have a new student in the band and have not already ordered his/her tux/dress (as outlined in the handbook) I would recommend you do that very soon, if possible. The tux/dress is our official concert performance attire. We wear it for the Veterans program, Christmas Concert, MPA, Spring Concert, and any other on/off campus concert performances. If your student doesn’t have the official attire by the Veterans program, he/she will need to wear complete solid black – preferably “dressy” black. I do have a few limited concert attire items/dresses donated from graduates. Students, especially gentlemen are able to use their tuxes/tux parts for other special events in their lives. Please follow the links on the band website (below) to the website where the attire can be purchased. Be sure you follow the instructions (on our website) for tux item specifics, shoes, hemming, etc. and follow the instructions (on the Stage Accents website) to size your student appropriately. Ladies, be absolutely sure you follow hemming instructions WITH shoe selection.https://www.buckhornband.com/about/concert-band/
