Equipment Crew Members Needed
We need parents and adults that can help with preparation for games, and loading and moving equipment.
If you’re not familiar with the volunteer help we need, at the very bottom of this email is quick run down of duties we need help with. These activities will be coordinated and assigned prior to games and events. Long email short – if you can help in any way at any time during a game, we can use you.
Equipment volunteers get a free badge pass into all games and events. We do need some of our crew to have a flexible that will allow them to be at BHS earlier in the day on some away games (some away games have early afternoon load times). That info will be communicated prior to events.
If you would like to sign up to help or have any questions, email me with your name and contact information or see me at our Parent meeting Tuesday at 6pm!
Remember, we CANNOT move this Marching Band machine without YOU, plus I guarantee you will enjoy being an integral part of making our students band experience work!
Regards,
Gordon King
BHS Band Booster Association President
Summary of Equipment Crew Duties
Home games:
* Prepare away team water coolers (fill coolers with water bottles and ice, transport to stadium)* Assist chaperones with transport of heavy items to stadium (stands box, etc.)
* Transport the Pit instruments, drum major stands, speakers, and prop ramp boxes over to the stadium
* At halftime, the equipment crew works with students to ensure all parts of the pit and show equipment are moved rapidly into place for the show, and then cleared from the field and either returned to stands or moved back into band room.
After the game, we work with the students to get all equipment and instruments back to bandroom or storage.
Away games
* Instead of transporting all equipment and instruments to the field, we load the large band transportation trailer and smaller cargo trailers typically parked at the stadium.
* We follow trailer to away stadium and help unload for pregame, and move items to stadium as with a home game.
* After game we help load trailer, head back to school and unload.
Competitions/events
* Like away games, we meet the band at BHS typically around Band Call Time to load out trailers, and we get free entry to the competition, and go with the band all the way to the competition field! It’s a special, unique perspective not achieved in the stands!
