MPA Results and Band Banquet info
MPA 2018 Results:
I am deeply proud to announce that our students earned all superior ratings at the Alabama Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment yesterday. They received all A’s on each component of the evaluation (Tone, Intonation, Technique, Rhythm, Balance, Musicianship, & General Factors) from 3 of the 4 judges, with a total of 25 A’s out of 28 possible. A couple of the judges even reacted verbally with excitement at the end of a couple of our pieces!
Now on to some more literature study to get ready for the Spring concert! These students have come a LONG way in 2.5 months and we’re not stopping! (Except to see and hear the UNA Jazz Band during class today.)
BAND BANQUET picture submissions:
Mrs. Monica Yother (our Webmaster (have you checked out our website!?) and band parent of a graduating senior and sophomore percussion student) will graciously be doing our banquet slideshow this year. The banquet is a very special semi-formal event with catered dinner, guest speaker, special awards, presentation of senior plaques, installation of new Booster Association Officers, and finally the showing of what has become tradition by Mrs. Souder – the slideshow (which includes a senior segment – baby picture followed by senior picture)! Thank you Mrs. Yother for taking over this year!
Anyone can send pictures – please only send good quality (jpg file only) candid pictures of our students relative to their involvement in our band activities from this past/current school year. We will also draw upon the catalog of pictures on our public forum Facebook group. Please send pictures to [email protected] and be sure to put “band pictures” in the subject line so she can keep them organized. It is a big project to create this lasting and very meaningful slideshow!
More info about the banquet and ticket sales will begin soon. Our annual band banquet has traditionally been well-attended, with over 400 students, parents, & family in attendance, so please make plans to attend the evening of Saturday, May 5.
