April Booster Minutes

Treasurer’s Report:
We have $18,000.00 in the band account. We will have a payment of $10,000 due soon for the uniforms.

Final payments for Spring Fees are due this month.

Fundraisers:

Cookie Dough Fundraiser- the average student sold $60.00. We will be moving this fundraiser next year to the fall.

The Schwan’s Fundraiser was not much of a success this year.

 

This year the end of the year awards will be on May 17 around lunch time at Locust Grove Baptist Church. We will have a picnic theme. We’ll cook hot dogs and hamburgers outside, and hopefully play softball…


Mr. Raney:

Composite Pictures will be taken on April 15 after immediately after school. There will be no jazz practice on April 15.

The band room is going to be expanded, and Buckhorn will be getting a new lunch room and classrooms. Construction is to begin at the end of the 08-09 school year.


Our Spring Concert is May 15 at Columbia High School. Mr. Styles will be playing at our concert. He is a former Buckhorn Band student. 

The concert will be recorded.


Solo/ Ensemble is April 12 at Meridianville Middle School. We have requested an afternoon slot due to the ACT testing.

The band has purchased Charms (an online database like STI, but for music.) You will be able to check your financial statements, 

see any uniforms or equipment checked out, look through the library/ inventory, we will be able to send messages to all booster 

members via a phone call system, and pay fees through paypal for an additional fee.


Our band camp schedule has been changed due to calendar changes by the Madison County School board. 

They have added mandatory teacher workshops that will require Mr. Raney to be present for. The new schedule is as follows:


July 16, 17, 18 - Rookie camp and percussion

July 21, 22 - ½ day

July 23,24,25,28,29 - Full Band Camp all day

Aug 4 - Parent Preview Night

The calendar on our website is updated with all new school dates.

Our May Awards will replace our May Booster Meeting.

Elections: Thank you to Desi Block and Ed Martin for calling and recruiting new officers.
