It’s Buckhorn Band calendar time again!  The calendars feature a full color picture of the Band proudly displayed in the middle, with advertisements from our sponsors surrounding it.  Calendars go on sale October 1st; the last day to turn in order forms is October 16th.

In order to have the calendars in before Christmas, October 16th is the last day orders will be taken!  Each calendar sells for $5.00.  In addition, for 50¢ each, customers can purchase individual listings to be printed on the calendars for special days such as birthdays, anniversaries, remembrances/“in memory of” someone special, etc.  When listing these individual events, it is best to list both the person’s first and last name since the listing will be printed on every calendar. 

Instructions for selling the calendars are on the order forms, which are available electronically through the download section of the Buckhorn Band website or CLICK HERE.  A paper copy of the order form is also available in the band room next to the blue box.

Checks should be made out to “Buckhorn High School” and should include the person’s telephone number.  The Buckhorn H.S. office will not accept checks that do not contain a phone number.  Be sure to put the completed order forms and checks in an envelope with your child’s name on the front of the envelope.

THE GOAL IS FOR EACH STUDENT TO SELL AT LEAST 10 CALENDARS.  Be sure to ask anyone who purchases a calendar to purchase a listing for the special days of people in their family -- this adds a unique and enjoyable element to our calendars and also adds to your student’s total sale amount.  They make great Christmas presents for grandparents, parents, family members, friends and coworkers!

A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS:  Proceeds from the sale of calendars and birthday listings are placed into student accounts!  The majority of the money made from this endeavor comes from the selling of ads (see separate announcement regarding ad sales below).  The money made selling ads is divided up by the number of calendars sold and then added to the value of the sold calendar.  For example, based on our ad sales and the number of calendars sold, the value of a calendar may be anywhere between $7.00 and $12.00. 

The ad team has worked very hard getting ads from sponsors for this calendar to add more value to the calendar and we are still soliciting ads from local vendors.  Last year, the calendar and listing sales along with the ad sales put about $7 in each account that made a calendar sale.  Which makes the calendar a great value -- basically you pay $5.00 for a calendar but get $7.00 in your student account for the sale!  The amount placed in student accounts this year will vary with ads sales, listings and amount of calendars sold; we will not know what this amount is until all the calendars are sold and this project is complete.  

As we are sure you are aware, the Band has many needs:  new equipment, repair or replacement of old instruments, and expenses related to helping your student learn, have fun, and have a great musical experience.  Last year we sold about 300 calendars but we can do better this year.  Please do your best to make this a successful fund raiser for the Band!

 
ADVERTISEMENT NOTICE   Do you own your own business? Do you know of a business that may consider buying an ad?Do you work for a business that may advertise?Would your church consider purchasing an ad, possibly for a specific/new program they are promoting? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you know someone who may want to buy an ad in our calendar!  A basic 1 ¾” x 1 ¼” ad is $100 and is visible to customers throughout north Madison County.  It is really a great advertising deal.  Everyone who buys an ad gets a free copy of the calendar (and you’ll never know unless you ASK!). Please call or e-mail Tom Brink (Phone:  261-6042; e-mail:   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
