Experimental Aircraft Association Fly-in Breakfast PDF Print E-mail

Buckhorn Band has been offered a profit-sharing fundraiser by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). They have a fly-in the third Saturday of every month at the Moontown Airport. As part of the event, they have been hosting a “donation only” breakfast (suggested $5 per person, $2-$3 per young child). They would like us to bring in and prepare the food. It is served buffet-style. In exchange, they will split the profits (donations less expenses) 50/50 with us. Further, they guarantee that the first $200 in profits belong to us.

Example 1:
Donations = $800 (this is what was donated 18 April)
Expenses = $200 (food, drinks, utensils, plates, cups, etc)
Total Profit = $800 - $200 = $600
Our Share = $300
Example 2:
Donations = $300 (December is usually a low month)
Expenses = $100
Total Profit = $300 - $100 = $200
Our Share = $200

What is expected of you? We need volunteers to work the event. Breakfast is served from 7:00am until the last person is served (usually shut down between 9:30-10:00am and cleaned up by 10:30am). You would need to arrive by 6:00am to begin preparations. Biscuits and cooked sausage will be delivered at 6:00am. The workers prepare pancakes, scrambled eggs, grits, and gravy on-site. Coffee and juice are also made. We will need one adult and three students to work each time. One of the Band Booster Board Members (that have been “trained”) will be there to get you started.

“What is in it for me?” As you know, the cost of running a band program is immensely expensive. We are significantly behind in replacing instruments. We have a large uniform bill due. That leaves us with two alternatives… raise band fees significantly or require mandatory fundraising. This fundraising effort adds to our ability to raise much-needed funds for the band program. You will get credit towards band fees.
